如果問我...托福口說考試最害怕的是什麼,我會說:答案沒講完,或是沒話講!

TOEFL口說時間上的分配真的很重要,那要怎樣分配呢?就是架構!

基本上,Q1、Q2的時間是45秒,Q3~Q6是60秒,如果說沒講完,那代表你沒抓到重點,如果剩很多時間沒話講,那就是你遺漏了重要的訊息。以下皆由TPO40的Speaking作為範例,可以拿來對照唷!

 

Q1

大部分是問考生對特定人、事、物、地的想法,我在看完題目的瞬間,我就開始做筆記,架構會是:Topic+example (reason) 1+example (reason) 2

例如題目問說:Talk about a country or culture that you would like to learn about. What is the country or culture and why you like to learn more about?

那我的note大概會長這樣:

England

- History

  Ex: museumarchitecture

- Fashion

  Ex: fashion showbrand

就只是很簡單的brainstorming,想到什麼就寫什麼,不要猶豫說:我寫這個好不好這個答案對不對。作答的時候就把這些東西延伸成句子,加進一些轉折詞或連接詞,套用進模板裡面就可以了。

基本上,我第一題的模板是這樣

Topic sentence 概述一下問句,The country I will like to learn about is……(5)

First / to begin with / first of all

For instance……                (20)

For another/secondly….

For example……                (20)

(Those are the reasons why I ……) 時間太多再講conclusion

 

Q2

通常是要考生選擇一個立場然後說明原因
筆記的部分會跟第一題長的差不多,只是第二題比較特別的地方是可用「讓步法」,這樣的敘述方式更有邏輯性批判性,也更有可能拿高分。

Question:Some people think that material printed on paper, such as book s and newspapers, will one day be replaced by electronic versions of those materials. Others believe that printed materials will always be popular. Which point of view do you agree with? Explain why?

筆記:( 採用讓步法 )

- Though easy to carry

- Habit

- Easy to collect and find

Although electronic materials are more…., I still prefer… (5 sec)

The first reason is that + reason1+detail1 (20 sec)

For another, + reason2+detail 2 (20 sec)

As a result,… will/will not....because…… (selective)

 

Q3

整合型的部分,reading跟listening都要take note

TPO40為例:University deciding to create a lounge

Template

In the conversation, two students are talking about this new policy / plan and the man / woman agrees /disagrees with / like / unhappy about it. (10 sec)

Another is based on the fact that__________ (15~20 sec)

Therefore, the student agrees / disagrees with__________ (5 sec).

 

Q4

Q5、Q6聽力+Speaking,聽力一定要好好聽!

會有1個學生有問題+2個不完美的solution+考生的想法+reason

很容易前面講太久,結果後面來不及說自己的想法,所以前面listening的summary一定要快狠準結束

通常教授會舉出一個現象或定義,然後舉兩個方法或例子去映證

TPO 40 again!

Q: Using points and examples from the lecture, explain two strategies sales people use to address customer concerns.

P.S:我的筆記其實會比這個更簡略唷,因為怕大家看不懂,所以才有完整的打字,不然實際考試的時候是會來不及的,例如說Strategy→strate,product→prod等等

 

最完美的狀態我覺得是最後一秒剛好講完,所以第一題第二題我不會講太滿,會留個五秒講conclusion,然後Q4、Q6一定要邊講邊看時間,絕對絕對不要只低頭看筆記啊!我用的template也不會太難,因為我覺得更重要的是表達的能力template只是給你一個架構,相信考官也知道這是template啦~

時間拿捏好了,最基本topic development的分數也拿到啦!
